As a resident of California, I am distressed to learn of the proposal to close the probation camps which currently house juvenille offenders. This closure will affect not only the minors, but the entire state of California. With some minors going to the Youth Authourity, or "prep" for State Prison, others will be recklessly left on the streets with little or no direction. They are not permitted in conventional schools and refferal into alternative schools will be impossible with no camps to lead these students to the proper facility. Bored and displaced minors will busy themselves with vandalism, auto theft, robbery and more. This is a mistake for the state of California and will eventually affect every resident in the wallet with increased crime and the follow up procedures which already plague the state. I am against the closure of these camps and want my voice to be heard.
